Julia Gillard completely supported Craig Thomson’s lies by hanging on to him as a member of her government until the very last minute before a damning report by Fair Work Australia was released.

The Prime Minister personally approved of the retention of Craig Thomson within the government despite knowing of the allegations that Craig Thomson used prostitutes on Health Services Union money.

Julia Gillard is complicit in the deceptive behaviour of Craig Thomson and as such has betrayed hard working Australians who live their lives honestly. In essence, Julia Gillard has backed a person who would be charged with fraud if it wasn’t for the weaknesses in her Fair Work Australia legislation.

The wolves can smell blood now, the Government is finished, it’s just a matter of when.

By now everyone should be aware of the new scandal engulfing the beleaguered Gillard government. Peter Slipper, the former NLP member who defected to become the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has been accused of abuse of his position as an employer by sexually harassing an employee and abusing Parliamentary entitlements.

Julia Gillard and her ministers are refusing to completely distance themselves from Peter Slipper’s questionable moral behaviour which has included allegations of pursuing younger male employees, urinating out of windows, appearing in risque videos demonstrating unusual behaviour. It’s all sordid stuff, yet Julia Gillard clings to Peter Slipper like a drowning man clinging to a life raft.

Is Julia Gillard devoid of moral fortitude ? Is there no depth that she will not sink to in order to retain power ?

The Gillard government is no stranger to supporting the misdemeanours of parliamentarians. Craig Thomson, formerly a National Secretary of the Health Services Union, has been accused of misusing union issued credit cards to pay for prostitutes. The Gillard government, desperate to retain the numbers to form a government, has dragged it’s feet on investigations of this matter. Julia Gillard is forgiving of the scandal in order to retain the numbers in the house of representatives.

The Thomson and Slipper affairs would never be tolerated by a government with a majority in Parliament.

In the political landscape that includes a hung Parliament, we have a Prime Minister who will turn a blind eye to anything in order to remain Prime Minister.

So where are the independents in this mess ? Rob Oakeshott, Tony Windsor and Adam Bandt are the three men who keep the Gillard government alive. Surely by now one or more of them has come to the view that enough is enough. Unfortunately it seems that the trust placed in each of them by the electorate may have been misguided.

We need a refresh of the Parliament, we need an election. If the Prime Minister will not rid us of the rot and the independents wont act independently then it’s time that the Australian public have the chance to do what others wont.

The scandal of Slipper has been brewing for years, nobody is surprised by the allegations that have surfaced. Privately there are whispers that it’s always been known that Slipper is a bit sleazy.

While we don’t yet know the final fate of Peter Slipper, we do know that Labor under Gillard is flailing about like a wounded animal that is refusing to die.

Given the close relationship between Julia Gillard and President Barrack Obama, it is surprising that the Australian government claim complete ignorance of any pending charges against Julian Assange.

Either Australia’s largest ally is keeping the government in the dark, or Julia Gillard is lying. Given the Prime Minister’s recent problems with matters of fact, it would appear that she is again being convenient with her use of language when it comes to matters of fact and truth.

In the Senate today the Greens communications spokesperson, Senator Scott Ludlam, asked Labor Senator Chris Evans – the Prime Ministers representative in the Senate – what the government knew of the currently sealed Grand Jury indictment against Julian Assange.

According to a press release issued by Senator Scott Ludlam, the Australian government claims to be completely unaware of any charges against Julian Assange by the US Government.

Now, lets put this in perspective for a moment. Australia is one of the United States’ closest allies. We host important intelligence gathering bases such as Pine Gap, without which the USA could not operate many of it’s secret military communications satellites or tap into communications of foreign powers around the world. Indeed, on more than one occasion Julia Gillard has boasted of Australia’s close relationship with the United States and has pointed out on national television that the United States and Australia regularly share information.

Senator Scott Ludlam pushed the matter further in the Senate. He asked what the Australian government would do if the United States attempted to extradite Julian Assange. The government had no answer.

In what reeks of a complete cover up the Australian government seems to be sitting on it’s hands while Julia Gillard uses officials and diplomats to do the dirty work for her. Julia Gillard obviously makes her wishes known to officials but wants to be able to completely deny knowledge of or any hint that she has instructed actions one way or another. This is how she gets away with appearing on national television and saying “I have no personal knowledge of such matters”. Gillard is clever, there is no doubting that.

Senator Scott Ludlam moved a motion in the Senate to acknowledge that Julian Assange had been recognised as a Journalist by organisations such as the British High Court and the Walkley Foundation. Both the government and the opposition voted down a list of seven indisputable facts relating to this motion.

There is no doubt in Canberra that Julia Gillard is furious that the fact these US charges exist found it’s way into the public domain, now the world knows what she knew all along, that the Australian government at some level have been complicit with our largest ally, the United States of America, in hiding their intention to hunt down and prosecute Julian Assange.

Julia Gillard should be ashamed. Is it not bad enough that she does nothing to intervene when foreign powers hold our citizens in questionable legal circumstances ? Is it not bad enough that she turns a blind eye when torture and extraordinary rendition is carried out by the US government ? Will she not exercise any of the influence she has with Washington to assure Julian Assange, who has committed no crime in Australia, be protected from an out of control legal process in the same country that had it’s politicians calling for Julian Assange to be hunted down and killed ?

Why was it ok for one of the power brokers who placed you into office, Mark Arbib, to provide intelligence about the Australian government to US Diplomats while at the same time not ok for Julian Assange to work for an organisation which has revealed the repulsive and reprehensible actions of foreign powers ? Mark Arbib was an active US intelligence asset, why has he not been prosecuted ?

Julia Gillard, you have obligations. You have an obligation to protect Australian citizens. The Australian public expect you to ensure Australian Citizens are protected. Pick up the phone to the UK and have Julian Assange brought home. These arrangements can be made through diplomatic and intelligence channels as you well know. Do not allow yourself to have another David Hicks on your hands.

Senator Scott Ludlam’s press release is here

In the video clip, Julia Gillard, denies having spoken with officials about Julian Assange. However what she didn’t tell us was that while she was rubbing hands with Washington dignitaries, her entourage of Australian government officials were doing the dirty work for her.

It’s been no secret that Julia Gillard dislikes Wikileaks and Julian Assange. Despite the fact that the Wikileaks Diplomatic Cables exposed horrors committed by despots in places like Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, they also exposed how her very own supporters, such as Mark Arbib, effectively acted as CIA assets and fed information to the US Government.

Now the Australian Greens want the answers.

The Greens have asked the Federal Government to state whether it knew about secret US charges against Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. Greens Senator Scott Ludlam has demanded that the Prime Minister comes clean about what she knows. He has also asked whether the PM will defend Julian Assange from extradition to the US.

The problem is however, Julia Gillard knows that nothing will prevent extradition to the US if Julian Assange is sent to Sweden. She can gleefully rub her hands clean as she sees an Australian citizen subject to the new wave of American Justice, the kind where the proverbial black bag is placed over ones head and the subject whisked away never to be seen again, or at best, facing multiple life sentences never to be released from jail.

Julia Gillard likes being cosy with the US. So much so that sacrificing Julian Assange is a win win situation for her. She dislikes Assange, so much so that she declared his work at Wikileaks illegal before the Australian Federal Police determined he had broken no Australian law. She dislikes Julian Assange because he embarrassed her and her Government for outing people within her own circle as sources of information about the machinations of government and her party to US diplomats (read: spies).

Julia Gillard is able to dispatch Julian Assange without even needing to lift a finger, all she needs to do is sit back and watch the UK extradite Julian Assange back to Sweden. If that happens his life will take a downward spiral as the US get’s it’s grubby paws on him from there.

It’s time for Julia Gillard to pick up the phone to the UK and demand our citizen back. She should demand the United Kingdom return Julian Assange to Australia and give him all the protections that an Australian citizen deserves from a rapidly ravenous United States of America.

Below is a video of an exchange between Julia Gillard and Julian Assange on Q&A from March 2011.

Will she intervene to protect Julian Assange, an Australian citizen? We hope so but we’re not holding our breath, as the only person Julia Gillard cares about is Julia Gillard.

More information about the secret US charges: Click Here

His resignation is cited as being for “personal” and “family” reasons. There is much more to this than someone who just wants to spend more time with his family.

This story will develop over the next few hours as we gain real insight into the real reasons for this move by Mark Arbib. As one of the chief head kickers in the NSW Right faction he was one of the architects of the coup which ousted Kevin Rudd as PM in 2010.

Mark Arbib has been described by some as “intimidating”, one person we spoke to called him a “political thug who would not stop until he got his own way”. Certainly Mark Arbib was a powerful person and call us cynical but “spending more time with my family” is the most overplayed excuse for resigning there is.

Unlike the House of Representatives, Mark Arbib’s resignation from the Senate will not force a by-election. Convention is that he will be replaced by a new Labor member to replace him in the Senate. The NSW Government will choose his replacement.

Senator Arbib was one of the so called “Faceless Men” of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party known for his ruthless tactics to keep his faction, the NSW Right, in line. Mark Arbib described his resignation as a “gesture of goodwill” to help heal the wounds in the party. Wounds, it should be added, he helped make as he hacked away at Kevin Rudd’s position as Prime Minister.

Privately, many is the ALP say they “wont miss Arbib one bit” and someone else has said “this thug is better gone”.

However there is a third, much more explosive option which could have lasting repercussions for the ALP.

This option is so explosive it’s almost nuclear, it’s the weapon of mass destruction of politics in the Commonwealth Parliament and it’s not out of the question, however unlikely it might be.

Australians clearly disapprove of Julia Gillard’s leadership as Prime Minister, however they clearly approve of Kevin Rudd even giving him a higher approval rating than Tony Abbott, let alone Julia Gillard. Australians also clearly disapprove of this Labor government as it lags way behind in all of the polls. Nobody disputes that if an election were to be held tomorrow Labor would be sent to the political wilderness for a generation.

So what might happen that is so explosive and so destructive that everything would change forever ?

Here’s the hypothetical. The ballot for the Labor leadership is to be held at 10am on Monday 27th February 2012. In this ballot there are two contenders, the incumbent Julia Gillard and the come back popular ex PM Kevin Rudd. The ballot may take an hour or more, however all reports suggest that despite the wide popular support for Kevin Rudd amongst the public, the Labor caucus will most likely choose Julia Gillard to remain as Prime Minister.

If Julia Gillard wins then Kevin Rudd is just another back bencher, destined to stay there unless something extraordinary happens. This leaves us with a massively unpopular Prime Minister, a deeply unpopular minority government and the sympathy support for Kevin Rudd will increase his public support to even higher levels.

Kevin Rudd has a political ThermoNuclear bomb and Tactical Nuclear Weapon. He could do one of two things. Both would have the potential to bring down the Government and neither would impact his public support.

The Tactical Nuclear Weapon

Firstly he could resign the Parliament effectively immediately forcing a by-election in Queensland which Labor could possible lose. This would be the tactical nuclear weapon. However what would happen with a hung parliament in the meantime, it would require Andrew Wilkie to return to his support for a Gillard led government and that’s not guaranteed.

The potential is one of massive disruption but may not be fatal to the government.

The ThermoNuclear Bomb

Kevin Rudd could cross the floor, resign from the ALP, shake hands with Malcolm Turnbull as he is unlikely to shake hands with Tony Abbott, remove his support for the Government and then the Government would be hung. An election would be necessary and for Julia Gillard, as the saying goes, “It’s all over Red Rover”!

Kevin Rudd would retain his popularity and probably be able to come back as the most popular independent ever in almost any marginal seat of his choosing. He would be seen as the ultimate saviour from the hatred the Australian people have for Julia Gillard and the government she leads.

Kevin Rudd would be remembered as a national hero of sorts.

As I said, this is all entirely hypothetical, but who knows what can happen in this crazy political climate ?

Nobody knows what will transpire tomorrow, most pundits seem to agree that Julia Gillard will win however win or lose, Kevin Rudd may have the last laugh.

Years ago after the death of my mother in 2001, I was on the Board of Directors of the National Ovarian Cancer Network.

I wanted to make a difference, for something good to come of out something as horrible as my mother’s disease and death.

So I spent my time selling teal ribbons, running movie fundraisers, organising press conferences, speaking at information days and talking to members of the public about the disease.

This is the type of work that needs to be done in our society. It is important and politicians should try and help it rather than frustrate it.

I did it all as a volunteer and I was dedicated.

At the time, the network applied for funding for an awareness campaign through the then-Department of Women but were told by the department ovarian cancer was a health issue, not a women’s issue.

We were shocked but pushed ahead with the minister for health’s office which gave us signs it was listening to our concerns.

But after the 2004 election campaign nothing happened. The Howard Government funded a private zoo and a raft of other projects in marginal seats but not an awareness campaign for ovarian cancer.

So the CEO of the ovarian cancer charity and I made a difficult choice – we had to do something public.

At the time I was the public face and media manager for CHOICE, so I was meant to remain politically impartial, so I had to remain under the radar.

But the job of calling the then-Shadow Minister for Health, Julia Gillard, was left up to me.

I told her that we were never promised funding but that we had our expectations raised during the context of an election campaign. I told her it was not just that other lesser projects were funded whereas ours was not.

And I told her not to mention my name. Under any circumstances or I could lose my job.

This was her response.

She got it wrong. We were never promised anything.

To add insult to injury, she made these statements in Parliament, when they were patently wrong.

She also made my name available to the press gallery to the extent that when I got home, I had five missed calls on my personal mobile from Tony Abbott.

I was a bloody volunteer for a cancer charity and Julia dumped me in the shit.

Thanks for that.

After that shit fight I ended up resigning from the charity. I felt I had let them down badly and failed in my duties.

Julia not only got the story wrong she failed to live up to an undertaking she had given me.

She used me and the charity I worked so hard for.

I have not forgotten.

I won’t forget.

Good luck on Monday, Prime Minister.

With the resignation of Kevin Rudd from the post of Foreign Minister, Prime Minister Julia Gillard has called for a vote Monday to determine the future of the party.

There are various reasons as to why Gillard is unfit to rule the Labor Party, and that Rudd is its best choice in the upcoming battle against the Liberals.

Starting from the 2010 coup that saw Gillard oust Rudd from office, the leadership of this party has been fraught with infighting, disunity, and petty squabbles. Ms Gillard has shown over and over that she cannot be trusted, and that the public has lost faith in her. Her action of grabbing the premiership away from Rudd shows a leader who will dispense of her perceived rivals to get to the top.

There’s no telling what this kind of behaviour will have for the future of Australia. She is capable of single handedly running the economy to the ground if given another chance, thanks to her self-serving interests. Her attacking of Australian implied right to free speech by throwing salvos at Julian Assange spells doom for the future of diplomacy with important world economies. With Kevin Rudd, the public are assured of a leader that is able to represent them well on the national forum by keeping in mind the international diplomatic expectations. By voting for Rudd, the Labor party will have a person that is widely accepted on both the home and international front, solidifying the presence of this great nation the world over.

Despite the fact that Julia Gillard has most support from caucus, Kevin Rudd enjoys pivotal popular support, and they support his return as Prime Minister. He has promised members of the ALP that he would give Abbott, the Liberal contender, a run for his money, and assured them that if they stuck with Gillard, there would be no hope.

Gillard has chosen to remain mum about the future of the party in regards to the liberals, choosing instead to focus on national reforms. In a defeatist note, she gave a statement alleging that she would be ready to give up her seat if she were to not get the support from her party members. For her to implicitly state this means that, at the very core, she does not have faith in her abilities.

This kind of ignorance and refusal to see the situation for what it is can be dangerous, reckless and irresponsible. The public want to see a Labor party that can roll with the best of them, and be confident enough to meet opponents head to head, and have faith in them, even when the future looks bleak.

With the twin backing of the voters and the party majority, Rudd has the ability become the best Labor leader, and tackle the reform issues that the country is currently facing. He understands the fundamentals of policy and vision, and this is evidenced by his track record. He will unite the party and take it to the next elections as one entity, ensuring success over the Liberals.

In March 2011 Julia Gillard appeared on the popular ABC Television program, Q&A.

During this appearance Julian Assange, the leader of Wikileaks, asked Julia Gillard a direct question which she avoided answering truthfully. It is true that under Julia Gillard’s watch that ASIO have been collecting and passing information about Australians involved with Wikileaks to authorities based in the United States of America.

In 2011 Julia Gillard accused Julian Assange and Wikileaks of criminal acts over the release of Diplomatic Cables despite the Australian Federal Police later finding no crime had been committed. She jumped the gun and declared Wikileaks of criminality with no basis for doing so.

In recent times, when Australians have found themselves in trouble overseas, Julia Gillard’s government has shown less support to those people than former governments have over similar issues. Her record on helping Australians overseas is shameful and should be seen as the state of affairs when a Prime Minister lacks backbone.

Julia Gillard failed to act when Mansor Almaribe, from the Victorian town of Shepparton, was found guilty of blasphemy by a Saudi Arabian court last year. He was sentenced to 500 lashes. This man with several medical conditions was likely to die if the sentence was carried out.

Did Julia Gillard call in the Saudi ambassador ? No, in fact all that happened was two lowly Australian diplomatic officials visited Mansor Almaribe while he was in custody and suggested he hire a lawyer, the Australian Government would do nothing more for him.

Julia Gillard’s record on helping Australians trapped, lost or wrongly arrested overseas has been pitiful, she has shown no backbone. The message is, don’t look to Julia to help you if your family member is kidnapped overseas, she won’t care one bit.

Below is a video of an exchange between Julia Gillard and Julian Assange on Q&A from March 2011.

Please email or phone your local Labor member of Parliament and tell them we want the Labor party we all once loved back and Julia Gillard gone.
